Rub Count (Martindale/Wyzenbeek)
Rub count is the score from a standardized abrasion test — Martindale (cycles) or Wyzenbeek (double rubs) — indicating how much friction an upholstery fabric survives before wearing through. Around 15,000 double rubs suits light use; 25,000+ is a sensible floor for a daily family sofa. It measures abrasion only, not stain or pilling resistance.
