Top-Grain vs Bonded Leather

Top-grain and full-grain leather are cut from the hide itself and wear in, developing patina over decades. Bonded leather is shredded leather scraps glued to a fabric backing with a stamped surface — it is closer to vinyl, and it peels, often within a few years of daily use. "Leather match" (real leather on contact surfaces, vinyl elsewhere) sits between. The label is the whole ballgame; read it.
